3.4 Intervention Step 4




                             In this step I tried to develop students’ knowledge regarding the subtraction. I used 3 activities to carrying students to the achievement level.

Activity o1

In activity one I used subtracting numbers with the help of things available in the environment. In first two days I used stones for subtract numbers. Early day I told students to bring stone when they come to school. They brought it. That day they did exercise with happily.




Activity 02

In second activity I used subtract numbers with the help of symbols. In this first day I used circles to subtract numbers. Students did the lesson well. C student couldn’t supply   correct answers for the one question. A, B, D and E students supplied correct answers for the all questions. I can see good level of this activity. And also they liked to did activity like those things.

When I had a free period I gave some activities for those students. For that I used Grade 03 Mathematics work book.

On 18th of July I stay after school. Today I used various pictures to subtract numbers. For that I used grade 02 mathematics work book. All of students supplied correct answer for the all question.
 
First I taught students subtraction which the first number is bigger than second number. I described this by using examples in day to day life. After explaining I gave the activity regarding this concept.

                                    All of students supplied correct answer for that. Therefore I understood all of students can subtraction which the first number is bigger than second number.

                                    Then I gave subtraction which the two number is bigger than subtracted number. At this activity some students could not write numbers in a line. Then I have to correct their mistakes. For that I gave question which I created. After I gave question from grade 03 mathematics work book. My selected group students like to done like that activities. They asked always me please give like that paper.

This step was the my last intervention step of my action research. Students understood the theory very well and then I used numbers for subtraction. Step by step I increase the digits of the numbers that I used for subtraction. I saw a progress of the students after analyzing the marks of post test.
                        After my intervention steps, I conducted a post test to assess the students’ previous situations and present situation. I conducted the post test (Post test 05). The results of the post test are given bellow.
 

In the intervention steps I could achieve the targets regarding the 5 students. But all of the selected students unable to gained the target. In the basic step they did their activity correctly but couldn’t grow up step by step. 
                  I compared pre test and post test by using following graphs.

 

According to this chart students had considerable development.
