I was to have many opportunities to do
research. I took great opportunity when I came
R/Emb/Madampe Vijaya Maha Vidyalaya as a internship teacher trainee to
have my teacher training. In the beginning of the year in 2012. The principal
of the school Rev. Ammuduve Vimala thero. The school have very nice environment
that is more suitable for learning teaching process. The school have enough
human and physical resources. There were 56 teachers and about 956 students in
this school.
This school
was starded on 1886. There was classes primary to advance level. This school
situated in Sabaragamuva province and Rathnapura distric. The school is control
by Embilipitiya eduacation zonal. This is class 1-C school. This school very
famosed for Dancing, Music, Drama and Art.
Before new
Educational reforms, Education only based on developing intra personal
abilities. But modern education is based on developing students’ inter personal
abilities. This is as in 21st century man having to face many
challenges and problems. So that Education also has to be changing the teaching
learning methods according to new world changes.
Now the
teaching learning process is based on competencies. That’s why teacher’s role
also changes in to Transformation role from Transmission role and Transaction
role. Now teacher is only a resource person and students have to do lot of
exploration activities with groups. It will help to build a competent person
who has good knowledge, attitudes, skills and practice about learnt things from
the school.
School has a
great responsibility to activate a purposeful learning process to build a good
person to the outward society. Therefore teacher has to do special something
for develop the students subject knowledge and skills in Mathematics, Science,
English, ICT etc. It’s a teacher responsibility. Also teacher should develop
the students’ personality.
As a teacher
in Madampe Vijaya Maha Vidyalaya I got Mathematics and Information
Communication Technology as my subjects. My
ICT classes are 7AB, 9AB and 10 A. my Mathematics class is 7B. I do my
work responsibility and enthusiastically. When I work in class room I had to
faced several problems that I identified in grade 7B class. Some of students
don’t show interest about the Mathematics.
When I was
doing my lesson in classroom, I found that the some students had some
difficulties to solve exercises relevant to the lesson. Then it was a problem to do my learning
teaching process successfully. Because of these students had not enough
knowledge regarding the basic mathematical operations such as addition and
subtraction they unable to solve simple exercises regarding the lesson.
There are 36
students in grade 7B class. Most of them are do their learning tasks in
satisfactory level. But few of among them have inabilities to gain the
satisfactory level. Specially there are 5 student faced this difficulties.
These students didn’t try to pay attention to the lesson and always try to be
isolate. They didn’t supply answer my questions also. But as a teacher I should
pay my attention to whole class and I should help each and every student to
gain knowledge. For that I used various learning teaching methods and
motivation steps to develop basic Mathematics knowledge of Mathematicss
subject.
